aby aginaFrom reading newspaper cuttings to his dad during his childhood Aby Agina a seasoned business journalist currently working with Nation Media Group shares his journalistic journey.

Journalism to me was hatched way back in the late 80's. At the age of three years, I would read articles of the Daily Nation newspaper to my dad. I was to later join and write for the same publication at Kenya's leading Media House in East and Central Africa a few years later.

I joined Daily Nation as an intern in 2010 fresh from clearing my undergraduate studies in Information Science at one of the country's top journalism school, Moi University Eldoret where I majored in Media and Publishing Studies. I honed my skills in writing and was deployed to the News desk and wrote on a number of topics ranging from ICC, Politics, Health, Entertainment, Sports, to Education.

My journey in journalism was to take a new course in 2011 when I joined a graduate trainee program dubbed Media Lab at Nation Media. Graduating from the program got me posted to the NTV Business Desk early December of 2011.

I report on regional issues that touch on trade, infrastructure and ICT. I have bagged two awards in my quest to bring to the world the tales of traders. In 2012, I was crowned the best business broadcast TV reporter in East Africa. A year after that I was feted as the overall best reporter in East Africa during the EAC Media Awards in Kampala, Uganda following my scintillating two-part report titled the Untold Tales of Truck Drivers.

My best moments in my career are to celebrate the gains made in the world of business and put a spotlight to the barriers to trade that face the Kenyan and the regional market at large. I have a growing interest in reporting on Tourism, Aviation, Oil and Gas economics.

I have travelled widely in Africa and yonder to gather the latest in the world of business. I have many occasions act as a stand-in anchor for major live events. I covered the Budget Speech in 2012, and 2013 among other key events.

I have conducted interviews with industry titans and the lowest in the chain of the economic movers. I have undergone training on Business and Financial reporting at Kenya's top business school Strathmore and a short term course on basics of Oil reporting by British giant Tullow Oil.

Business runs through my blood.
